Welcome
to the Valentine's Day Gift Hop
I
have to be honest and say that for me the holiday has become very commercial
and it feels like it puts a lot of pressure on people to spend a lot of money
on things that in reality aren't at all important. It all comes down to supply
and demand. The closer it gets to February 14th the higher the price of things
such as flowers, chocolates, and stuffed animals. Don't get me wrong if someone
makes an effort to either make you something, or buy you something original
then I'm all for it, but spending outrageous amounts of money on things because
commercials and society tell you they are romantic in my opinion is no more
than an empty gesture. The true meaning of Valentine's day is remembering that
love is something that we should always cherish and be grateful for all year
round.

I just finished the first book and loved Sam and his relationship with Jackson and Alek. Great job!

ReplyDeletei agree with you, love shouldn't be celebrated only one day, nor friendship, but all year around. Thank you so much for participating in the bloghop!

I totally agree about the retail-ism of holidays now including Valentine's Day. I was just at Walgreens and the Valentine's aisle is ridiculous. Who needs all of that? I'd rather have someone tell me they love me every day:)

I happen to enjoy getting gigantic teddy bears so I'm okay with the commercializing of the holiday. Plus, after Valentine's Day, chocolate is 75 percent off. How awesome is that, lol.

I agree w/you about the commercialism. Just today I saw ads for Easter. Already! Our so-called holidays have become nothing but an excuse for consumerism to run rampant, smh.

I agree with you about how Valentine's day has lost it meaning. It shouldn't be about what you get someone but about showing your love for your special someone. Just having extra alone time for my guy is all I need! Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about this. Most holidays have become so commercialistic these days.

I LOVE this series of books, its so refreshing having a shifter series in a seaside english town, and this threesome are both wonderfully loving and sexy as all get-out! Jackson is masculaine and hot, Same so sweet and sexy, and Alek just old-school raunch. Jane writes brilliantly, captures love and sex and friendship and everything in between. Especially if Sam is the meat in the sandwich.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jane writes an Aussie wolf into the series, gotta love that!
Cheers, DisneyMal from Melbourne xxx
I agree with the commercialism of the holiday...so many have gotten that way! I'd rather a surprise gift on an odd day!
ReplyDeleteThanks

When my husband and I were first going out, we spent more money on each other because it was our first relationships. but as time goes on, we realized it's about the precious time you spend boding with each other that matters most. We don't go over the top for valentine's, it's kind of like a regular date night for us. i think of valentine's as more of a reminder to show the other person how much you love them with your time and thoughts.

I agree with you! This non-holiday holiday has gone crazy with everything! D: It takes the romance right out of the day to begin with.
